the death of Nathan Bates and the end of the open city, the Visitors mount
offensive to retake Los Angeles. Juliet
risks her life to aid a pregnant woman, while Charles has a unique plan
to control Diana - marry her!
With L.A. no longer an open city, the Visitors
unleash a reign of terror, alighting the city and hunting down all humans.
In an abandoned burned-out building, a family - husband Alan, wife Joanne,
and son Johnny - are in hiding, with Joanne in the first stages of labour.
Alan leaves his family in the building in an attempt to find a doctor.
On board the Mothership, Lt. James reports to
Diana that the city should be under Visitor control within hours.
Diana assigns James the duty of checking out the vicinity of Club Creole,
and offers him the post of her "right hand man".
Willie, walking down the street, is grabbed by
Alan. Luckily Kyle is nearby and grabs Alan. Alan tells the
Resistance members that he is trying to find Juliet Parrish. The
Resistance members, hiding in the secret room below Club Creole, decide
to stay in their current location, as being less risky than trying to find
a new headquarters. When Kyle and Willie arrive with Alan, Julie
recognizes him as the brother of a man with whom she went to medical school.
Alan explains where his wife is, and Julie and Kyle agree to go with him
in the van to help. Waiting in the abandoned building, Johnny vows
to protect his mother from the Visitors.
Lydia, meanwhile, is upset that neither she nor
Charles were informed before the invasion of L.A. She threatens to
charge Diana with insubordination. As Lydia leaves to report to Charles,
Diana informs her that she has already sent a progress report to the Leader.
Lydia discovers that Charles has intercepted Diana's
message and is already aware of the situation. He reveals his plan
to Lydia: because Charles is a direct descendant of the house of
Rahman, he can choose any woman he wants to be his wife, and that woman
cannot refuse him. Once married, she must serve the cause by bearing
children, on the home world. Charles plans to marry Diana and then
send her away for this purpose.
At the Resistance headquarters, Willie practices
memory skills with Elizabeth. She is able to repeat a prior conversation
word for word, including the person's voice. Mike spots a Visitor
patrol outside, and Elizabeth warns the group that they should go.
The Visitors, led by Lt. James, break in through the previously concealed
secret door in Club Creole's kitchen and attack. As the freedom fighters
scatter, Mike informs them to meet at Griffith Park. Gathering weapons,
Elizabeth halts Lt. James attack by uses her powers to collapse the ceiling,
giving the Resistance members time to escape.
Diana is summoned to Charles' quarters, where
she reports on Lt. James failed attempt to destroy the Resistance.
She is shocked to learn the reason for her summons - the announcement of
her betrothal to Charles. Diana refuses to wed, and swears that she
would rather die than to marry Charles.
Alan, Julie, and Kyle arrive at the abandoned
building. While Kyle stands guard, Julie examines Joanne and determines
that she still has hours to go before she will deliver her baby.
Later that day, the Resistance members meet at
Griffith Park to regroup. Knowing the Julie and Kyle will walk into
a trap if they attempt to return to their former headquarters, Elizabeth
(prompted by Mike and Willie) uses her memory powers to recreate the conversation
that Julie had with Alan. Armed with the knowledge of their location,
Mike sets out to retrieve them, while directing the others to move their
headquarters to an abandoned movie studio. Arriving there, the freedom
fighters are disturbed by noises within one of the buildings, only to discover
that there is a dog, named Ramsey, living there.
Diana is interrupted in her quarters by two Visitors,
sent by Charles, to prepare her for her wedding ceremony. Diana refuses
to co-operate, and threatens to inform the Leader. Lydia, however,
tells Diana that the Leader has already sent his blessing to the couple.
Later that day, Diana prepares a bag as a loyal
Ensign, Lewis, arrives to announce that her shuttle is prepared.
Diana tries to reward Lewis for his loyalty but he refuses. As Diana
attempts to board her shuttle on the docking bay, she is stopped by Charles,
who reminds her that the punishment for trying to abandon her groom is
death. Lewis, working with Charles all along, escorts Diana
back to her quarters.
While Kyle remains at watch, Julie decides to
bring the family back to Resistance headquarters. However, a Visitor
patrol led by Lt. James stops to check their van and in doing so spots
Johnny inside the building. Kyle is forced to shoot the trooper.
The patrol covers the front of the building, blocking any escape for those
On board the Mothership, Charles visits Diana
as she enjoys her ritual bath. Charmed by her beauty, Diana tempts
him. When Charles leaves, ceremonial eels are placed in Diana's bath.
Lydia waits for Charles in his quarters, and is
shocked when he announces that he has decided to keep Diana in the fleet.
Lydia wants to assassinate Diana, and realizes that Charles had gone to
Diana's ritual bath and been tempted. Charles gruffly dismisses Lydia,
who leaves his office to see Marta and to pick up Charles' marriage potion.
Marta also gives Lydia a bottle a cat poison, and a new perfume, "Essence
of Rodent Musk".
At the new Resistance headquarters on the movie
ranch, Willie stands guard while the others begin cleaning and setting
up equipment. A Visitor patrol is seen outside and everyone hides.
When the Visitors come inside the building, they see only Ramsey and believe
that it was the dog making noise. Elizabeth credits Ramsey for saving
Lt. James gives the Resistance 5 minutes to give
themselves up. Kyle uses this time to try to explain to Johnny the
reasons behind the Resistance. As the time limit comes up, Julie
comes up with a plan - Kyle will pretend to give up and get to the van;
while Alan lobs a grenade at the Visitors, Julie and the others will attempt
to reach the van.
Kyle steps outside the building with his hands
up, and is told to lay down his weapon. As he complies, Mike suddenly
begins firing at the Visitors from the rooftop of a neighbouring building.
As all Visitor attention is focused on Mike, Kyle retrieves his gun and
jumps into the van. As Julie shepherds the others inside the van,
Alan throws a grenade at one of the Visitor jeeps, setting it ablaze.
Mike fakes being hit ... and when Kyle arrives at the back of the building
with the van, he jumps inside.
Aboard the Mothership, a lavish buffet is laid
out for the wedding of Charles and Diana. The two are mated, and
Diana seals the wedding by biting the head off of a ceremonial mouse.
Lydia leaves the ceremony and goes to Charles' quarters, where two steaming
cups of liquid, engraved with the names of the couple, have been prepared.
Lydia takes out the cat poison and pours it into the red cup, leaving the
white cup untouched.
Lydia arrives back at the ceremony just as Charles
is inviting the guests to partake of the wedding buffet. She congratulates
the couple, and both Charles and Diana comment on the new Rat Musk scent
that she is wearing. The couple then leave the reception.
Arriving in Charles' quarters, Diana comments
that she is reminded of Lydia, and Charles agrees that the scent that Lydia
was wearing seemed to linger on them. Charles hands Diana the red
cup, a gift from Lydia, but she offers the cup back to him, with the words
"Take this, as you take me - forever". They trade cups and drink.
Almost immediately Charles begins retching, and realizes that he has been
At the ranch, Joanne and Alan decide to name their
new baby 'Victoria', in honour of the Victory that they know will come.
Back on the Mothership, Lydia arrives in Charles'
quarters, where he seems to be relaxing in a chair. When Lydia spins
the chair around to get a good look at Charles, however, she finds only
a shrunken cadaver. As Lydia screams in horror, Diana arrives to
have her arrested for murder.

and Nitpicks -
During the Freedom Network broadcast, Howard K.
Smith reads a story about Johannesburg, then there is a bad cut
to a U.S. story, then Smith says: "Here at home in the U.S. ...".
Obviously, when filmed, the stories were in a different order and
edited very badly!
At the beginning of the episode, a human is shown
being shot in the street by a Visitor. This was
re-used footage from "Dreadnought".
Mike appears to be shot while on the rooftop.
The Visitors arrive outside the abandoned building
in two white jeeps. Alan lobs a grenade at one of the
jeeps, and it is seen in flames. On the next long shot of the street,
both jeeps are shown in perfect condition.
